Do Good Conversation Series: Barriers to Bridges

  • Inspiration Alley 217 South 11th Street Boise, ID, 83702 United States (map)

Presented by HMK Impact, The Do Good Conversation Series with Crispin Gravatt offers sharp questions, quick wit, and a knack for turning complex issues into something you can actually wrap your head around.

This isn’t your typical conversation. We bring different industries to the table to reconsider what it means to Do Good. We’re committed to offering fresh perspectives by featuring cross-industry guests and amplifying voices that aren’t typically at the table together. Think meaningful conversations and practical takeaways that you can actually use.

Join us quarterly for inspiring stories, actionable insights, and a chance to connect with like-minded do-gooders. Because doing good doesn’t have to be complicated—it starts with conversations that matter.

We’re honored to share that the Do Good Conversation Series has been awarded a City of Boise Arts & History Grant.

Civil discourse is the foundation of a functioning democracy, yet it feels increasingly fragile. The Do Good Conversation Series invites our community to come together and explore how we can replace barriers with bridges, bringing together voices from different political parties and diverse perspectives in civic, policy, and political life.

Today, listening is an act of courage. Connecting with someone you don’t see eye to eye with—and walking away with mutual respect—is rarely celebrated in mainstream media, but it’s more important now than ever.

Join us as we explore the humanity in all of us and how we can hold onto respect and connection, even in the hardest conversations.

Our speakers bring unique perspectives on how to foster meaningful conversation across divides:

  • Nancy Buffington – Public speaking coach and a core member of Boise State’s project Idaho Listens program, helping communities practice the art of listening.

  • Greg Strimple – Political campaign strategist and advisor to gubernatorial, presidential, and senate candidates, with deep insight into the mechanics of political communication.

  • Melissa Wintrow – College educator, activist, and current Idaho State Senator since 2020, with firsthand experience navigating the intersections of policy, activism, and dialogue.
