Nancy Buffington

Nancy Buffington has spent her career in the world of communication — teaching college writing and literature for more than twenty years and working in publishing before that. Nancy works as a speaking coach and trainer in Boise, Idaho.

When she taught public speaking at Stanford, she discovered the incomparable power of the spoken word and made a major pivot. She left academia, moved back to Boise, Idaho, and opened a communications coaching practice in 2011.

Nancy has worked closely with TEDxBoise since its first show in 2015, coaching speakers as they shape their ideas and get ready to grace the famous red dot. She connects with musicians and activists across the nation through her work with Music to Life, and she takes the stage herself as lead singer of The Soulmates.

What makes her work meaningful is a deep understanding of what it feels like to struggle with self-expression — and the exhilaration of breaking through it.
